On September 11, 2026, the Dillon County Veterans of the Year Organization gathered alongside first responders, community leaders, and local residents on the steps of the Dillon County Courthouse to host a solemn Patriot Day ceremony. Marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the program paid tribute to the victims, honored local military service members who served in the subsequent Global War on Terrorism, and recognized Jordan Upton as the 2026 First Responder of the Year. The remembrance concluded with a special wreath-laying ceremony and the playing of TAPS to reaffirm the community's commitment to never forget the sacrifices of that fateful day.
